It’s funny how time seems to warp when we try to recall movie dates, and books are the same. It’s incredible that the world’s favourite young wizard, Harry Potter, has been around in print for 20 years! As it happens, we’ve been tricked… Harry has actually been around for 37 years! For those baffled by the mystical maths, Harry came to life in 1997 with The Philosopher’s Stone, but he was actually born to J.K Rowling back in 1990, apparently on a crowded train… fortunately only in her mind!
So here it is: 2018. We are fresh into the New Year and the festive parties are still alive and kicking in our memories. Does that mean we need to calm down and throw in the towel? Of course not. A date ain’t nothin’ but a number, and the many music festivals happening in Australia this January confirm this. The first couple of months of this year promise to be extremely eventful on the festival front.
Dressing up in costume is obviously fun, or we wouldn’t bother doing it! Who doesn’t love to don the occasional brightly-coloured wig or cliché uniform? Costumes don’t necessarily have to be silly though; they can be eye-catchingly beautiful too. You probably wouldn’t go to your local bar dressed as a Greek goddess on a weeknight, but you don’t have to dig too deep to come up with a reason to throw your own fancy dress party if there isn’t something suitable going on.
Costume parties are heaps of fun all year round, and there are so many dress-up possibilities that you could be in character every day of the year if you saw fit! Whether we’re dressing up for a night out or dressing up for a costume party, we all want to be unique. So take a look at our unique costume themes ideas and be inspired for an unforgettable costume party!

Love or hate his movies. Quentin Tarantino definitely pulls an emotional response from his audience. His movies are graphic, full of violence and draw you into the surreal world of his creation. Tarantino’s gift is to paint larger than life villains that we can’t help barracking for, with their dysfunctional lives and violent rampages. Over the past half century Tarantino has gifted cinema dozens of classic characters, from Reservoir Dogs through The Hateful Eight – plus, of course, via movies he wrote, like True Romance and Natural Born Killers.
